Reed Making Workshop Thursday 12 th October 2017, 2.00 – 4.30pm St Cuthbert’s Performing Arts Centre, 122 Market Road, Epsom, Auckland . A hands-on opportunity for both oboists and bassoonists to learn in small groups from professional player s who make their own reeds. Cost: $35 (NZDRS members), $50 (non-members) Places are limited so register now by return email stating what reed making equipment (if any) you are able to bring. Click here to register for the masterclass Just a quick reminder of what a masterclass is for those of you who may never have been to one before, if you boil it down to it's basic form it is essentially a "public lesson". The participants get to have a short lesson with a tutor based on a piece of music they are currently working on or just want to play and get feedback on, while other people get to listen in and also receive the same benefits of hearing the teaching that the participant/performer does! So not only is a Masterclass a great opportunity for people to take part and play in from a performance perspective, but it is also just as great an opportunity for others to come along and listen to as well, so don't let the fact that you may not be participating by playing stop you from coming along and getting the most out of this event! (And don't forget the free afternoon tea..!)
